Sagarmatha Solo

With Bastanis’ Sagarmatha Solo speaker we have a deeply – I stress deeply – satisfying sound which is wholly natural and believable. The choice of the world's best speakers is individual and dependent on different preferences. My personal feeling is: Yes, Sagarmatha Solo reach the summit of Mount Everest!

Mandala

After spending hundreds of hours with the Bastanis Mandala, I can honestly say that they do many things better than any speakers I have ever heard. Foremost among these qualities is that they are highly expressive and produce a very involving nuanced sound. They project a large soundstage with great depth and bloom at even moderate levels. When called upon, they will startle you with dynamic impact. They will do justice to all kinds of music as one would expect from a truly full-range speaker - and do all of it with a mere 10 watts of pure triode power per channel admittedly (not counting the separate woofer amps!). It all adds up to another award.

Wildhorn

I can confidently state that with the right amp, the Wildhorns will project a huge and alive soundstage that is very involving. This is a major appeal which drew me to Bastanis speakers in the first place. In fact, here they exceed every other speaker I have heard, barring perhaps some well set-up horn speakers (which seem to be a rarity). Dynamics, soundstaging and detail are up there with the best.

Wildhorn

Delicacy preserved by using a crossoverless, highly efficient wideband driver.

All the music I fed the Triumphs (editorial note: the Triumphs are the Wildhorns) with was reproduced with aplomb. Vocals and instruments alike are incredibly lifelike and placed precisely within a large virtual stage. Complex orchestral passages (yes even I do classical) are relaxed with clear musical structure and stable imaging whether it's with quiet passages or at high levels with massive dynamics.

Matterhorn

Reading my review you can tell I am very impressed by this Bastanis Matterhorn. Sound-wise, this speaker is more than successful. Its appearance is grand, but sleek and understated, no glitter and glamour at all. I suspect the Bastanis Matterhorn, despite its considerable size, will have the approval of most critical partners.

Matterhorn

...you might start to think that the Matterhorns are but typical horns – great vocals, maybe some acoustic music and that's it. Absolutely not! Once I played Marcus Miller’s first recording I had to play them all (that I had) – finally I had loudspeakers capable of delivering powerful, extended, fast bass with all of its energy; capable of massaging my liver (when needed) – and all that without the damn bass-reflex!

...…You get the speed, the details, the amazing 3D spacing, the bass power, the sparkling treble, the sweet, smooth midrange and you don’t just listen to music – you live it…

Epilog MKII I/C

Prometheus MKII

If Prometheus will fit with your living environment then I wholeheartedly recommend them. If they don't fit in your environment or with your marriage then still buy them and fix the problem. They are that good.

Prometheus MKII

For all of you fullrange driver fanatics -- especially Lowther fans -- why not give yourself a break and audition the Bastanis speakers? I think you'd find just about everything you love about the Lowther sound (e.g. midrange purity, tremendous detail and speed), but with real bass, complete composure on all types of music, better dynamics and none of that pesky upper midrange peakiness.

Prometheus

The Bastanis Prometheus loudspeakers, in this system, are very neutral and true to source. They are transparent, which is a quality I have not experienced much in speakers. In my opinion, speakers add their own flavor to the system, more than any other component. These speakers seem to get out of the way and let full range music: tones and textures… come through, as you would believe they should. The Prometheus neither sweetens nor enhances the output. They simply let the source shine through in as big a way as possible.

Epilog + Meta speaker cables
